SAMANTHA K. TAN is a Los Angeles-based Vietnamese-Chinese-American writer and producer who makes her directorial debut with her short film, F*CK FEELINGS, which premiered at the Academy Award and BAFTA Qualifying LA Shorts International Film Festival in July 2025. Not only did her dramedy series, Ambitious, get accepted into the 2022 Sundance and The Asian American Foundation Fellowship & Scholarship program, but she also produced a range of shorts, including Hansen Bursic’s documentary Trans Heaven, Pennsylvania, sponsored by Outfest and Traverse32, as well as En Pointe, directed by Nickelodeon’s Make It Pop star Megan Lee and executive produced by Make It Pop's creator Tommy Lynch alongside Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters star Arden Cho. Samantha also co-produced an animated short with Golden Globe and Emmy-winning filmmaker Evan Goldberg called Tree’s Blood, starring Ayo Edebiri and Rose Byrne, that partnered with Paramount Nickelodeon Animation and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. This Reel Start animated short film won Gold in the 2024 Anthem Awards for Special Projects in the “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Special Projects, Product, Innovation, or Service” category. She co-produced Peppermint Spiral, another Reel Start and Paramount Nickelodeon Animation short starring TMNT: MM cast Shamon Brown Jr., Brady Noon and Seth Rogen, which premiered at TIFF Lightbox in July 2024.

She is currently producing Fiorella Vescovi’s Pilotos de Papel (fka Four Visitors), sponsored by Netflix through the 2026 Latino Film Institute Inclusion Fellowship program. Samantha is a proud member of the Alliance of Women Directors (AWD) and Newfilmmakers LA (NFMLA). Prior to producing these projects, Samantha worked at HBO Max as a Line Producer’s Assistant on The Flight Attendant Season 2 and Mindy Kaling’s The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 2.

As an aspiring showrunner, Samantha is currently developing a sex shop anthology series, a superhero show, and a mockumentary series. She is devoted to writing and producing narratives that showcase the beauty and complexity of BIPOC histories and voices, specifically the AAPI community, all while challenging society norms and empowering female and LGBTQ perspectives. Samantha is extremely excited to share more diverse and thought provoking narratives on and off screen.
